Meet Brie-Ann Briggs, CAT(C)
Brie-Ann was born and raised in Nanaimo. Brie-Ann has always lived a physically active lifestyle playing ice hockey and snowboarding from a young age. Brie-Ann's interest for Chiropractic and Athletic Therapy came from when she broke her leg snowboarding which resulted in her seeking out care by an Athletic Therapist. Intrigued by the relief she had after her treatment, she wanted to get into a similar profession where she could help people through everyday injuries and get them back to what they love to do.
Brie-Ann now enjoys hiking and running with her adorable but stubborn German Shepherd cross, Ders. When Brie-Ann isn't doing physical activity she loves afternoon tea and is always up for hosting her friends and family with her china tea set and freshly baked goodies.
Brie-Ann completed her undergraduate degree locally at Camosun College with a Bachelor of Athletic Therapy in 2017. During her Athletic Therapy education she completed over 1200 hours of acute on-field and clinical experience with various local sporting teams and clinics. Brie-Ann completed her main practicum with the Saanich Junior B hockey team where she learned about treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and working with the athletes to return them back to play after injury. Brie-Ann also has extensive experience at the Camosun AET clinic where she led a team of students in creating an exercise program for the industrial athletes which involved safe lifting techniques.
After graduating from Camosun College Brie-Ann attended the University of Western States in Portland, OR where she completed her schooling for a Doctorate of Chiropractic. At the University of Western States Brie-Ann had the opportunity to got on a Clinic Based internship where she learned about several different technique systems and focused on home exercises to help the patient return to pre injury status. Brie-Ann completed a preceptor in Nanaimo, BC learning about the specifics of running gait and how to minimize injury during running. She is currently awaiting to compete her board exams and become a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic.
Brie-Ann is eager to utilized both her Athletic Therapy degree and Doctorate of Chiropractic degree to treat patients with hands on care. Brie-Ann has always found benefit in a home exercise program that is client focused and the patient being highly involved in their treatments. Brie-Ann wants to personalize each patient's treatment plan so it works best for their lifestyle and will allow them to flourish
